Abu Dhabi and the other Emirates boasts a growing number of internationally accredited Colleges and Universities offering courses in the arts, sciences, business and engineering sectors.
Many students opt to leave the UAE at this point and undertake studies abroad some may subsequently return to undertake a post- graduate programme. University places in Abu Dhabi are mainly filled by locals, Gulf Nationals or those already working here who wish to undertake a post- graduate course as a mature student.
There are a number of projects underway to improve and expand Abu Dhabi’s higher educational facilities. Zayed University www.zu.ac.ae will be relocated and upgraded and plans for a new University City on the outskirts of Abu Dhabi are well underway.
The Abu Dhabi Vocational Education & Training Institute provides vocational training and qualifications in areas such as health, law and tourism. www.adec.ac.ae
The New York Film Academy www.nyfa.com offers both 2year and shorter term courses in acting and film making.
Academic City www.diacedu.ae and Knowledge Village www.kv.ae in neighbouring Dubai also offers a wide selection of courses.
Several language schools exist in Abu Dhabi, offering courses in Arabic, French and German. Courses are held for beginners through to an advanced level.
