Private Schools in Abu Dhabi work over 3 terms, September to December, January to April, April to June, with 2 weeks leave at Christmas and 2 weeks in April. Summer holidays are generally from the end of June through to the beginning of September. Schools also break for Eid holidays.
Half term breaks usually follows the same schedule as UK schools.
Many schools offer a learning support department and outside specialist support is sought or recommended if deemed necessary to meet a particular child's needs.
All kids learn Arabic language / culture from an early age this instills in them a sense of appreciation and respect for our host country. French/ German are also taught at certain schools.
Twice yearly parent teacher consultations are held followed by a detailed report at the academic year end.
Each school in Abu Dhabi has an onsite registered nurse; she administers basic First Aid and is involved with teaching certain areas of the curriculum. She works closely with teachers to identify any problems a child might be experiencing and also with parents to ensure Immunizations/ medical examinations/ dental examinations are kept up to date.
