  • Alcohol is served only to those over 21 years and frequently ID is required.
  • There is a zero tolerance for drinking and driving in Abu Dhabi and UAE. Offenders will be severely punished – large fines and a prison sentence followed by deportation. If you consume alcohol, leave your car behind and get a taxi as there is no safe limit of consumption.
  • A dress code applies to some venues, check it out first.
  • A smoke ban in public places is poorly adhered to despite great efforts by the Ministry of Health.
  • Check out 'Ladies nights' in various bars throughout the city, where special deals are offered to the ladies- 2 drinks for 1, free cocktails all night, 2 free drinks etc. Special promotions by beverage suppliers are also commonplace.
  • Try a shisha, at least once during your stay in Abu Dhabi. Shisha pipes can be bought in the bigger supermarkets and souks, they make unusual gifts for friends and family back home
