In the past 18 months an increasing number of recruitment companies have opened offices in Abu Dhabi as many international companies are relocating or establishing local operations there.
The types of jobs in Abu Dhabi are broad and vary depending on your training and level of expertise. The big employment industries tend to be Construction, Finance, Exploration and Hospitality. Despite the global economic slowdown, there are still a large number of job opportunities in Abu Dhabi with many sectors struggling to meet the demand for top class employees.
Many firms use international head hunters to secure the best talent. The exception to this is the property sector, where many firms have reduced head count in the past couple of months. Recently the UAE government has pushed hard to reduce unemployment amongst nationals In Abu Dhabi. Local businesses are encouraged to recruit nationals. This process, known as Emiratisation (the replacement of expatriates with UAE nationals in the workforce), is making its presence felt in numerous sectors.
