Bahrain, 50 minute flight away, steeped in tradition with excellent restaurants and bars. It is well worth a visit. For the Formula 1 enthusiasts, Bahrain Grand Prix is held in March each year.

Oman is a 45 minute flight or 5 hours by car. The road is excellent on the UAE side however one is faced with many roundabouts between the Omani border and Muscat. A visa is required, obtainable at the border or beforehand at the Omani Embassy. It boasts beautiful rich green country side,

Muscat is the capital, busy souks, great restaurants and bars. Musandam to the south boasts jagged mountain cliffs and fjords, reputed to have the best diving sites in the Middle East.

Qatar is developing at a rapid pace, several museums and cultural centres, great bars and restaurants. Doha the capital, hosts the Qatar Masters Golf Tournament each year, which attracts world class players.

Kuwait / Saudi Arabia offers little as a weekend destination up to now. However, well worth a visit to experience their way of life, if one gets an opportunity through business. It boasts the same rich culture that dominates Middle East, has several international hotels with high standard restaurants but no bars!

Other destinations within a four hour flight time

Egypt - boasts the Sphinx and the Pyramids. Cairo offers a very busy active city life, with lots to do and see.

India - experience the city life trends of Mumbai, the beautiful beaches of Goa and the therapeutic mystique of Kerala.

Sri Lanka - Enjoy the many luxurious resorts or make way to the capital city of Colombo to experience the Sri Lankan way of life.

Maldives - get away to these peaceful islands for the ultimate break from hectic UAE life, many 5 star hotels and plenty golf courses.

Jordan - only 3 hours from Abu Dhabi offers an array of 5 star hotels. It offers terrific architecture and many ancient historical and religious sites to visit.

Cyprus - Take a drive through the Troudos Mountains, experience the crisp cool air and eat in road side restaurants. Savor the shopping and vibrant night life in one of the bigger towns Larnaca or Limassol.
