There are numerous options for golfers in Abu Dhabi and the UAE. However, access to courses during the busy holiday season can be difficult with increasing number of tourists. This will improve though with the nearing completion of several new world class golf courses.
For beginners, Abu Dhabi offers a real opportunity to learn golf, with easy access to lessons, off peak access to the main courses, increased amounts of leisure time (no more long commutes or rush hour traffic to contend with) to practice and improve skills and the favorable weather enjoyed throughout most of the year.
Juniors also have a great opportunity to learn, with junior programmes in place in many of the clubs. Courses are beautifully maintained and can be either grassed or sand or a mixture of both.
Golf courses in the UAE host many local and international tournaments. The Abu Dhabi Golf Championship is an annual event on the European PGA Tour, while the Emirates Golf Club in Dubai hosts the Dubai Desert Classic in February each year both attracting the world’s top golfers.
All the golf clubs in Abu Dhabi are open to non –members. Social members are accepted also, this includes access to the Par 3 courses and recreational amenities.
Prices vary according to the time of year, with many doing promotional rates from June to September. It is advisable to book in advance.
