The Arabian horse is well known and admired throughout the world.

The Emiratis themselves have a great love of horses and have contributed in no small way to the successes of the equine world.

The Emirates Racing Authority is the internationally recognized governing body for horse racing in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). It administers all aspects of the sport, including the implementation of the UAE Rules of Racing. www.emiratesracing.com

There are three international standard courses in the UAE – Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club and Nad Al Sheba and Jebel Ali in Dubai. Top jockeys and trainers from Europe, USA and Australia are attracted to both work and compete here.

Recreational riding is very popular across all age groups and Abu Dhabi Golf & Equestrian Club boasts an active riding club. It offers instruction from beginners through to an advanced level.

The racing season is from November to March and racing takes place on Sunday evenings in Abu Dhabi. In Dubai, races take place at Nad Al Sheba on Thursday nights throughout the same period.

The highlight of the UAE racing calendar is the Dubai World Cup. It is the richest race in the world offering prize money of $6million and attracts large crowds to Nad Al Sheba and is broadcast on TV throughout the world. www.dubaiworldcup.com
